Progression and the level cap

Progression in AION 2 runs on two ladders, and only one of them is your level. As of 6 July 2026 on the Korean service, "The level cap has increased to 50, while Stigma skills can now be enhanced up to level 25." The second ladder is item level, and it is the one that actually gates content: NCSOFT has published entry requirements from 3,000 to 4,000 across its dungeons. It has not been announced for the Western release in this form.

The level cap reached 50 with the Chapter 1 update of 6 July 2026, which also raised Stigma enhancement to level 25 and gave every player a free character slot. Before that, Season 2 in January 2026 introduced "a new Transfer system for equipment progression" and a best-record-based ranking system, and the class rework of 25 March 2026 raised the maximum number of Stigma slots to five. Character stat caps were raised again on 27 May 2026, alongside a Wings Enhance System.

The published item-level ladder is the most useful thing on this page, and it exists nowhere else in one place. Sunken Temple of Life: minimum item level 3,000. Mirror of Scarlet Desire: 3,200. Citadel of the Fallen Daeva and Abyssal Horn Den: level 50 and minimum item level 3,500. Corroded Decontamination Facility: minimum level 3,700. The Doom difficulty of Ascension Trial: from item level 4,000. Each of those figures is the entry tier only — NCSOFT states that "higher difficulties requiring progressively higher item levels".

Before anything else: these figures describe the Korean service, and NCSOFT has published nothing about the Western launch of 30 September 2026 — the level cap there may be lower. The mistake is planning progression around your character level. Level 50 opens the door to the Chapter 1 dungeons; item level 3,500 is what actually lets you in, and 3,700 for the hardest Sanctuary content. So the question to ask of any content is not "am I max level" but "what item level does the publisher list for it" — and for most content, the answer is published.
