Chanter
© NC Corporation. All Rights Reserved. What this class does
The Chanter is AION 2’s support class. NCSOFT’s official announcement of 4 June 2025 describes it as "A versatile support role with multiplayer utility" — and the word doing the work there is versatile, which is the publisher describing breadth rather than a single job. It sits beside the Cleric on the group side of the roster without being a second healer. NCSOFT has not published which weapon it uses, so this page does not name one. All classes were reworked on 25 March 2026, the last balance change on record, and every claim on this page carries its date.
What changed, and when
The rework of 25 March 2026 is the most recent change on record for this class (official NCSOFT announcement, same date). It gave the Chanter a new Stigma skill, "Barrier Spell". Two of the general changes announced that day sit close to a support class: two new defensive mechanics were introduced, Perfect Shield Block and Perfect Parry, and "Immune and Immortal effects can no longer be applied consecutively within a 30-second window". Alongside these, "The maximum number of Stigma slots has also been expanded to five" for every class, and "PvP and PvE damage calculations have been separated, and balance adjustments have been made to reduce damage gaps between certain skills". The class’s earlier lineage in the wider AION series is not covered by any source this page can date.
What matters for advanced play
The 25 March 2026 announcement is unusually relevant to this class, because three of its changes land on the same ground (official NCSOFT announcement, same date). "Immune and Immortal effects can no longer be applied consecutively within a 30-second window", which changes how protective effects have to be spaced rather than chained. Two new defensive mechanics arrived, Perfect Shield Block and Perfect Parry. And the class received a new Stigma skill named "Barrier Spell" — NCSOFT published the name and not the effect, so no effect is stated here. Five Stigma slots widen what a support build can carry at once. The same announcement introduced Chaotic Abyss, where "players are divided into West and East forces at the server level, engaging in large-scale battles regardless of race alignment".
The classic mistake
The classic mistake is treating the Chanter as a spare Cleric and picking it to heal. The publisher separates the two clearly: NCSOFT’s announcement of 4 June 2025 describes the Cleric as "Now featuring improved damage capabilities" on top of healing, and the Chanter as "A versatile support role with multiplayer utility". Versatile is the operative word — it describes a class that does several things for a group rather than one thing well. So pick the Chanter if you want to shape a fight for other people and prefer breadth to a single defined job. Pick the Cleric instead if what you actually want is to keep the group alive. And treat any ranking written before 25 March 2026 carefully: that day restricted the consecutive use of Immune and Immortal effects and added two new defensive mechanics, which is most of what a support class works with. As on every class page here: NCSOFT has not announced what content opens at the Western launch of 30 September 2026.
