What this class does

The Gladiator is AION 2’s melee damage class. NCSOFT’s official announcement of 4 June 2025 sums it up as "Powerful, wide-area skill attacks" — a class built to hit several enemies at once from close range rather than to focus one target down. In a group that makes it the pick for packs and for crowded open-world fights, not for holding aggro. NCSOFT has not published which weapon the class uses, so this page does not name one. Every claim here carries its date: AION 2 launched in Korea and Taiwan on 19 November 2025, and all classes were reworked on 25 March 2026.

What changed, and when

The most recent change on record for this class is the rework of 25 March 2026 (official NCSOFT announcement, "AION 2 Introduces Major Class Overhaul and Unveils Chaotic Abyss"). It gave the Gladiator a new Stigma skill, "Fracturing Rush". The same announcement changed things for every class at once: "The maximum number of Stigma slots has also been expanded to five, improving overall usability", "Immune and Immortal effects can no longer be applied consecutively within a 30-second window", two new defensive mechanics were introduced — Perfect Shield Block and Perfect Parry — and "PvP and PvE damage calculations have been separated, and balance adjustments have been made to reduce damage gaps between certain skills". The class’s earlier lineage in the wider AION series is not covered by any source this page can date, so it is not asserted here.

What matters for advanced play

Two changes from 25 March 2026 matter most for advanced play (official NCSOFT announcement, same date). First, the maximum number of Stigma slots was expanded to five, and "Fracturing Rush" is the new option competing for one of them. Second, PvP and PvE damage calculations have been separated — which means a build judged on open-world clearing tells you nothing about how it performs against players, and the reverse is equally true. The same announcement introduced Chaotic Abyss, where "players are divided into West and East forces at the server level, engaging in large-scale battles regardless of race alignment", while "Spacetime Rift will continue to operate under the current race-based matchmaking system". NCSOFT published no numbers with the balance pass, so this page gives none.

The classic mistake

The classic mistake is reading "wide-area skill attacks" as "the most damage everywhere". NCSOFT’s announcement of 4 June 2025 describes the Gladiator with exactly that phrase — a statement about how its damage spreads, not about how hard it hits one target, and the publisher has released no figures either way. So pick the Gladiator if you want to fight several enemies at once, in melee, and accept being in the middle of it. Do not pick it expecting to tank: the same announcement gives the Templar the "Core tanking role". And do not pick it on the strength of any ranking written before 25 March 2026 — damage was rebalanced and PvP and PvE calculations were separated on that date, so earlier comparisons no longer describe the same class. One caveat applies to every class page on this site: NCSOFT has not announced what content the Western launch of 30 September 2026 will open with, so balance observed on the Korean service may not be the balance you meet.
