This content is live on the Korean and Taiwanese service. It is not yet available in the Western release.
The Western release opens on 30 September 2026. NCSOFT has not stated which Korean content will be present at that launch.
Nightmare
© NC Corporation. All Rights Reserved. How it works
Nightmare is a solo dungeon on the Korean service, built in layers. In the update of 6 July 2026, NCSOFT states that "Players can encounter new bosses in Nightmare Layer IV", and that "Clearing a specific stage grants the combined rewards of all preceding stages." That second sentence is the one that decides how you should play it: progress is cumulative, so reaching a stage pays for everything below it. It is content you run alone, which makes it one of the few competitive-free ways to progress. It has not been announced for the Western release.
What changed, and when
Nightmare received new bosses in Layer IV with the update NCSOFT titled "Chapter 1. Lands of Sand and Snow", on the Korean service, on 6 July 2026 (official NCSOFT announcement, same date). The layered structure implied by "Layer IV" tells you the dungeon existed before that update, but NCSOFT’s announcement describes the addition rather than the whole, and this page does not reconstruct the earlier layers from sources it cannot date. What the same announcement does establish is the reward rule: "Clearing a specific stage grants the combined rewards of all preceding stages."
The detail that changes how you play
The cumulative reward rule is the core of the strategy, and it is published: "Clearing a specific stage grants the combined rewards of all preceding stages" (official NCSOFT announcement, 6 July 2026). So there is no value in clearing lower stages separately once a higher one is within reach — the higher clear contains them, and the correct approach is to push for the highest stage you can hold rather than to farm below it. On the content itself, NCSOFT published one figure, on 21 January 2026: "Players will face seven different boss monsters within Nightmare content." It has published no mechanic for any of those seven, and no reward contents, so this page names the count and stops there.
The common misconception
Before anything else: this dungeon is not confirmed for the Western release. It was announced for the Korean service, and its Layer IV bosses were added there on 6 July 2026; NCSOFT has published nothing about its state at the Western launch of 30 September 2026. Read what follows as a description of the Korean service as observed on that date. The mistake people make with layered solo content is farming the comfortable stage repeatedly. NCSOFT’s own rule makes that wasteful: clearing a stage grants the combined rewards of all preceding stages, so a single higher clear replaces several lower ones. What it costs you is the attempts spent failing above your level, and NCSOFT has published no attempt limit, so that cost is unknown.
